Eyeglass Jobs
Introduction
Eyeglass jobs are essential for automating various tasks within the Eyeglass platform. Below, you will find detailed information on how different job types work, how to use the Runbook Robot, and the various configurations and roles required for effective operation.
This page describes the legacy Jobs window, including its Job Definitions and Running Jobs tabs. In the 2.15.0 GUI, this is the Jobs page (shared, top of sidebar), reorganized into Runs and Job Definitions tabs — not a direct carryover of the legacy views. See Jobs icon for what's confirmed about the redesigned page. The job types, modes, and bulk-action concepts below are unaffected by this navigation change.
Understanding How Jobs Work
Jobs are the basis for all automation in Eyeglass, and job types dictate the type of automation that will be performed. Currently, the supported job types are:
- None (unconfigured): New policy detected that needs a type set (new in 2.5.6 or later releases).
- Configuration Replication: Replication of shares, exports, permissions, and NFS aliases.
- DFS Mode Enabled Config Replication Policies: Configuration replication for shares only.
- Skip Share, Export, Alias Replication: Skips replication of shares, exports, and aliases.
- Quota Replication: Replication of all types of quotas.
- File System: Configuration of snapshot schedules and deduplication settings.
- Access Zone Replication: Replication of access zones.
Failover Related Job Types
- Failover Jobs: Jobs for SyncIQ policy, Access Zone, or DFS failover.
- Created by Failover Wizard
- Failover Readiness: Checks for failover readiness.
- Runbook Robot Jobs: Jobs created by the Runbook Robot.
- Disaster Recovery Testing - LiveOPS DR Test Mode Jobs: Jobs for disaster recovery testing in LiveOPS mode.
- Access Zone Data Migration: Jobs for migrating data in access zones.
- Created by the Data Migration icon.
Further Job Modes
In addition to the job types, the following modes can be set on jobs:
- Auto: Set by the administrator on a job Eyeglass created with type None after detecting a SyncIQ policy. It identifies shares, exports, and NFS aliases for replication.
- Auto DFS Mode: Set by the administrator for DFS mode failover, prefixing SMB shares on the read-only cluster automatically. This mode can be switched back to Auto.
- Auto Skip Config Mode: Set by the administrator when SMB shares and NFS exports are not to be synced to the target cluster but failover data is still needed. It can be switched back to Auto.
- Custom: User-created jobs that detect and replicate shares, exports, and quotas in a specified file system path to the target cluster without needing a SyncIQ policy. The data and path must exist on the target cluster.
