Data Orchestration for Dell

Introduction

Superna Data Orchestration (built on the Golden Copy engine) is a PowerScale-integrated solution for metadata-aware, high-speed file-to-object data movement. It copies and synchronizes files from Dell PowerScale to native S3-compatible object storage, and can restore that data back to the file system with its original metadata (owner, group, ACLs, and timestamps) intact.

Data Orchestration is built around the reality that enterprise data now needs to move fluidly between file and object storage: backup copies that satisfy 3-2-1 backup compliance, hybrid cloud workflows that move data between on-premises file shares and cloud object stores, and media/creative workflows that need large volumes of data to flow to and from the cloud on demand. Rather than treating file-to-object and object-to-file movement as one-way operations, Data Orchestration treats them as two directions of the same problem — file-to-object intelligence for backup, archive, and cost-tiering, and object-to-file intelligence for recall, disaster recovery, and cloud-to-premises data mobility.

This documentation provides guidance for deploying, configuring, and operating Data Orchestration as part of Cyberstorage for Dell. It is intended for technical professionals responsible for managing storage infrastructure, planning hybrid cloud data workflows, and meeting data protection and compliance requirements.
