License Keys for Data Security for Dell
Introduction
This page covers how to retrieve and apply product license keys for Superna Data Security Edition (Ransomware Defender, Easy Auditor) and related Eyeglass-licensed products (Disaster Recovery, Enterprise AirGap). Use this procedure whenever another page in this documentation set refers to "the standard license key procedure."
Cluster Storage Monitor and AnyCopy are deprecated, with no 2.15.0 replacement. Network Visualization (Performance Auditor) is not available in the 2.15.0 interface as of this release.
A license code is emailed to you when your order is filled. Protect your license keys using each product's backup function — if a license key is lost or an appliance is deleted, restoring the license requires assistance from the Superna sales team, and is not covered by standard support cases or SLAs.
Retrieve Your Product License Key
-
Get your product's unique appliance ID:
The appliance ID is displayed directly in Inventory → License Management, with a Copy Appliance ID button next to it. If you need to retrieve it over SSH instead:
-
Eyeglass DR, Ransomware Defender, Easy Auditor, and Enterprise AirGap (over SSH to the CAA — Core Agent Appliance):
ssh admin@x.x.x.x
igls admin appid -
Golden Copy and Search & Recover:
ssh ecaadmin@x.x.x.x
ecactl version
-
-
Log in to the Superna Support Portal.
-
Enter your appliance ID and the transaction/license code from your order confirmation email, then click Request License.
importantCopy the full appliance ID exactly, with no leading or trailing spaces. Using the wrong appliance ID, or pairing the correct ID with the wrong token, requires assistance from sales@superna.net to correct — support cases cannot be used for license issues.
-
A license zip file downloads to your browser automatically. Do not unzip this file — upload it as-is in the next step. If the download does not start, your firewall may be blocking required URLs; confirm your outbound allow list with Superna Support.
Apply the License Key
Applies to Ransomware Defender, Easy Auditor, Disaster Recovery, and Enterprise AirGap:
- Log in to the Eyeglass VM GUI as an admin user.
- Open Inventory → License Management (shared, top of sidebar).
- Select + License, browse to the downloaded license zip file, and upload it. Accept the Eyeglass EULA if prompted.
- The upload validates that the zip file matches the correct appliance and meets any licensing prerequisites. If an error is returned, capture a screenshot and email it to sales@superna.net (do not open a support case for this).
- Once the license applies successfully, the licensed capacity card updates and the new license appears in the license table below it.
- Most products require additional configuration after licensing — see that product's own configuration documentation.
Golden Copy and Search & Recover licenses are applied through their own product-specific configuration workflow rather than the Eyeglass License Manager. Contact your Superna representative for current Golden Copy and Search & Recover licensing steps.
Manually Assigning Licenses to a Specific Cluster
Assign each product license to the cluster it's intended for:
- Open Inventory → Manage Devices.
- Set the wrongly licensed cluster to Unlicensed for that product.
- On the correct cluster, select User Licensed to pin the license to that device.
You may need to set one cluster to Unlicensed before another cluster can be set to User Licensed for the same product license.
If insufficient licenses exist for the number of writable clusters detected during inventory, Eyeglass raises a system alarm.
Requesting a Trial License
- Log in to the Superna Support Portal.
- Fill in the trial request form with the product name and check the box indicating this is a trial key request. Some products also require a proof-of-concept (POC) form.
- Trial requests are reviewed Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM EDT, with an update typically provided within 24 hours.
