Data Orchestration Design and Implementation Service

Overview

This service assists with designing, planning, and implementing an archive project to cloud storage from your Dell PowerScale environment, using the Superna Data Orchestration (Golden Copy) file-to-object archive product. The engagement produces a design document, best practices, a cloud storage configuration summary, and a network diagram of data flows, along with configuration of Golden Copy to archive a defined data set. It includes knowledge transfer on operational archive and recall workflows with Golden Copy, plus a high-level overview of the cloud provider storage service specific to Golden Copy use cases.

  • Service Delivery: Remote sessions via Zoom or WebEx. Minimum of 4 x 2-hour conference calls, scheduled based on your ability to complete prerequisites such as cloud provider access and networking, proxy, or internet team availability.
  • Operating Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:00 AM – 3:00 PM EDT, excluding major holidays.

    • Outage or issue resolution of customer networking equipment.
    • Any costs related to cloud provider fees, overages, or data usage/transfer costs related to copying data to a cloud provider service.
    • Internet bandwidth costs related to copying data.
    • Outage or issue resolution of cloud provider services.

Prerequisites

  • Supported PowerScale OneFS release 8.x or later.
  • Installed and licensed Superna Data Orchestration (Golden Copy).
  • Access Requirements: Network connectivity information between PowerScale and the internet, and access to your cloud provider, networking, proxy, or internet team as needed to complete configuration steps.

Service Methodology Flow

Data Collection Phase

An interview process to collect use cases and review cloud provider storage options, including:

  • Networking between PowerScale and the internet, and internet connection speed.
  • NAT or proxy access to the internet.
  • Data set size and file types being archived.
  • One-time or continuous copy requirements.
  • Version and retention requirements for archived data.
  • Recall scenarios and expected frequency from archive back to on-premises storage.

Design Phase

  • Design document summarizing data flows between all components of the solution, protocols and ports, and devices inline between PowerScale and internet access.
  • Golden Copy configuration summary for the data set being archived.
  • Cloud provider object storage configuration summary.
  • Operational monitoring procedures for active copies in progress, including key monitoring statistics for diagnosing copy issues.

Wrap-Up Phase

  • Final review of the design document.
  • Knowledge transfer on the solution.
  • Q&A.
