Understanding How Eyeglass Jobs Work

Understanding How Eyeglass Jobs Work

Jobs are the basis for all automation in Eyeglass, and job types dictate the type of automation that will be performed. Currently, the supported job types are:

  • Unconfigured: New policy detected that needs a type set (new in 2.5.6 or later releases).
  • Configuration Replication: Replication of shares, exports, permissions, and NFS aliases.
  • DFS Mode Enabled Config Replication Policies: Configuration replication for shares only.
  • Skip Share, Export, Alias Replication: Skips replication of shares, exports, and aliases.
  • Quota Replication: Replication of all types of quotas.
  • Snapshot Schedule and Dedupe Settings: Configuration of snapshot schedules and deduplication settings.
  • Access Zone Replication: Replication of access zones.
  • Failover Jobs: Jobs for SyncIQ policy, Access Zone, or DFS failover.
  • Created by DR Assistant
    • Failover Readiness: Checks for failover readiness.
  • Runbook Robot Jobs: Jobs created by the Runbook Robot.
  • Disaster Recovery Testing - LiveOPS DR Test Mode Jobs: Jobs for disaster recovery testing in LiveOPS mode.
  • Access Zone Data Migration: Jobs for migrating data in access zones.
    • Created by the Data Migration icon.

Further Job Modes

In addition to the job types, the following modes can be set on jobs:

  • Automatic: Automatically created by Eyeglass after detecting SyncIQ policies. It identifies shares, exports, NFS aliases, and quotas for replication.
  • DFS Mode: Set by the administrator for DFS mode failover, renaming SMB shares on the read-only cluster automatically. This mode can be switched back to sync mode.
  • AutoSkipConfig Mode: Set by the administrator when SMB shares and NFS exports are not to be synced to the target cluster but failover data is still needed. It can be switched back to sync mode.
  • Custom: User-created jobs that detect and replicate shares, exports, and quotas in a specified file system path to the target cluster without needing a SyncIQ policy. The data and path must exist on the target cluster.
