How to Navigate the Jobs Module

Introduction

This guide outlines various advanced functions of the Eyeglass Jobs Module. Including, but not limited to: troubleshooting jobs, renaming jobs, and the Run Now action.

Job Definitions Tab

Here, you will find details about all past jobs, including:

  • Job Name: Displays the name as it was defined during Job Creation
  • Policy: Displays the corresponding Policy that applies to the Job.
  • Job Type: There are several types of Jobs that can be shown here (such as: Auto, Manual, AutoDFS, FileSystem, Quota, Readiness, Zones, etc.)
  • Last Run Date: Date that the Job was last run
  • State: You will find one of several possible States in this field: "OK", "User Disabled", "Pending", "Error", "Sync IQ Running".

These are actions that can be triggered from the Jobs Definitions tab by selecting one or more Job lines (from the checkbox found to the left of the Job Name) and clicking on the "Select a Bulk Action" button.

The options under this drop-down are:

  • Edit Configurations: This will bring you to the Inventory View window, where you can expand the tree to see which SMB shares, NFS Exports, and NFS Aliases are associated with the selected job.
  • Run now: Allows you to run the Job manually with a click.
  • Enable/Disable Microsoft DFS: Enables or disables Microsoft DFS in relation to the selected job(s). For more information on this, refer to the DFS Failover Guide
  • Set Schedule: This option gives you the ability to schedule Jobs to occur automatically.
  • Enable/Disable: Allows you to enable or disable the Job entirely.
  • Set Job Type: Enables you to edit the Job Type.
  • Delete: The delete functionality isn't currently available for use.
  • Enable/Disable Skip Config Replication: Set this mode to skip syncing any configuration data on this policy, but allow the policy to be eligible for failover. This allows configuration to be managed manually on policies when there are two sets of hosts used at the production and DR site for NFS exports, as well as having different client lists.
warning

An alarm will be raised whenever a new SyncIQ policy is detected.

This will create a job with the Job Type: Unconfigured, and will require the administrator to take action regarding the Job Type. This alarm will be re-generated every 5 minutes until the situation is resolved.

If the policy is not in production, edit the Job Type and then set the State to User Disabled.

Run Now Action

Eyeglass Jobs can run automatically, and on-demand. Clicking on the Run Now icon (shown below) will begin running the job
