Fan-Out IP Pool Failover Configuration

Introduction

In a Fan-Out configuration for IP Pool failover, a single source cluster replicates data to multiple target clusters using dedicated IP pools.

A Fan-Out IP Pool Failover configuration builds on the requirements outlined in the IP Pool Failover Prerequisites document.

Dedicated IP Pools

Each cluster in a Fan-Out configuration must have its own dedicated pool. A pool on the source cluster can only replicate to one target cluster and cannot be shared between multiple target clusters.

For example, if there are two target clusters, the source cluster must have two separate IP pools—one for each target cluster—to ensure proper failover and avoid pool conflicts.

The steps for configuring an IP Pool Failover, including Fan-Out configurations, are outlined in the IP Pool Procedures document.

For this setup, special attention should be given to ensuring that each pool on the source cluster is dedicated to only one target cluster, following the correct mapping rules.

Supported Configurations

One or Multiple Access Zones

  • A single access zone on the source cluster can replicate Pool A to one target cluster (Cluster A) and Pool B to another target cluster (Cluster C).
  • If there are multiple access zones on the source cluster, each access zone can replicate to different target clusters. However, IP pools from one access zone cannot fail over to a pool in another access zone. Each replication relationship must remain within its designated access zone and use a dedicated pool for proper failover.
