Runbook Robot Overview

Overview

Many organizations schedule DR tests during maintenance windows and weekends, only to find that the DR procedures did not work or documentation needed updating. The Eyeglass Runbook Robot feature automates DR runbook procedures, avoiding downtime to validate DR procedures, and providing failover and failback automation tests with reporting.

info

The Runbook Robot automates DR procedures, ensuring daily validation and providing high confidence in the readiness of PowerScale storage for failover.

Runbook Robot Failover Coverage with Basic Setup

The following items are validated daily:

  • API access to both clusters.
  • API access allows creation of export, share, quota.
  • NFS mount of data external to the cluster.
  • SyncIQ policy replication between source and destination clusters.
  • Configuration replication of test configuration from source to destination.
  • SyncIQ failover to target cluster.
  • Test data access on target cluster post failover.
  • Verify data integrity of the test data on target cluster.
  • Configuration Sync of quotas from source to target on failover.
  • Delete of Quotas on source cluster.
  • SyncIQ Failback from target to source cluster.

The above validations are performed daily, with the DR dashboard updated and any failures sent as critical events. When all validations pass, it indicates that the cluster is ready for a failover.
