Installing Dell Components

This guide covers the installation and configuration of Dell components required for Data Security Essentials to work with Dell Unity and PowerStore systems.

Before You Begin

Be sure to check the Prerequisites page before proceeding with installation. If you encounter any errors during the installation process, verify that all prerequisites have been met.

Dell EMC Common Event Enabler (CEE)

Post Install Configuration Steps

  1. Configure EMC Cava Service Account
    Ensure that the EMC Cava Service is running as a domain account. Recommendation is to use the same account as Data Security Essentials.

  2. Modify Registry Settings
    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EMC\CEE\CEPP\CQM\Configuration. Change the Enabled value to 1 and set the Endpoint value to ntp.

  3. Restart EMC Cava Service
    Restart the EMC Cava service if the service account was changed.

Dell NAS Management Snap-In

Download the Unity and VNX File CIFS Management MMC Snap-In from the official Dell website.

Follow Dell's installation instructions to install and configure the tool.

Post Installation Steps

  1. Run the Dell NAS Management Snap-In
    Access the tool through the installed shortcut or menu item.

  2. Connect to the NAS Server to be managed
    Use the tool interface to connect to your NAS Server.
